Taking a sample...

Postby Burley Subsea » Thu Apr 09, 2009 11:43 pm

We have recently carried out a water tank inspection, the client has now called us back asking for a sample of the marine growth on the pumps within the tank.

Anyone got any ideas?

Main problem we are facing is the access point into the tank is 9 inches and we had to strip our VideoRay right down just to get it in the tank, so by adding the Manipulator it could possibly be too big.

Any ideas, much appreciated.

Is it possible to use the diver technique of removing their air tank to squeeze through tight spaces? If so, you could insert the ROV, then the skid with manipulator, and put the two together inside the tank. If not, what about double sided tape or something simliar stuck to the bottom of the dome?

Thanks Tom,
We bought a Manip and it came with a new skid. We cut back the skid and she fitted no problems....

Did get a little worried there for a second as we started to loose picture and the screen went blank a few times, well maybe a little more than a little worried.

Pulled her back and had a look at the connection, smallest amount of water had got in there and after a good clean and some CRC she was back on top form!

Pulled loads of Marine Growth off the pumps, client very happy!
