New User Workshop

Rachael Miller, Rozalia Project for a Clean Ocean

Hilton Swimming Pool

This workshop is designed for anyone new to VideoRay, even if you have experience with other ROVs – regardless of your planned VideoRay missions. Participants will learn proper set-up, launch, piloting, control and basic maintenance techniques in a hands-on and controlled environment. This workshop will set attendees up for success whatever their intended use with solid fundamental information about the system and supervised time on the controls.

The workshop will begin with a group introduction and /demonstration, which will be interactive but with one VideoRay as the primary visual. That will be 25 minutes (will include launch and buoyancy check/adjustment).

The next 50 minutes will be supervised piloting practice for the new pilots.

The last 15 minutes will be as a group again for questions and some mission planning scenarios and discussion, in order for participants to apply their new skills to the real-life tasks they will be doing after VIPS.

A handout will be provided to attendees with an outline of the information from the workshop - basic procedures, piloting tips, etc.
